Workshop on Export Control System (STC) in Kyrgyzstan and Central Asia
September 8–9, 2025, Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan
On September 8-9, 2025, a two-day Workshop on Export Control Systems (STC) in Kyrgyzstan and Central Asia was held in Bishkek. It was organized by the Centre on Export Control with the support of the Canadian Foundation for Local Initiatives (CFLI) as part of the Women in Export Control (WEC) initiative.
Main goals and objectives
The workshop focused on key aspects of national and regional export control systems, as well as international best practices and approaches in the field of export control. Particular attention was paid to internal compliance, licensing, identification of controlled goods and technologies, and the role of women experts in strengthening national and regional security.
Participants and speakers
Representatives from government agencies, universities, business and the expert community participated in the workshop.

- Jyldyz Sydygalieva, Director of the Center for Export Control, key expert of the EU P2P 105 project;
- Nurzhamal Sarseitova, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor at KNU named after Zh. Balasagyn;
- Tamara Tazhibaeva, Professor at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University;
- Galym Makhmedzhanov, Associate Professor at Narxoz University, Kazakhstan;
- Zamira Kadyrgychova, Director of the International Educational Center of BGU;
- Zhyldyzkan Duysheeva, Chief Specialist of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Results and Prospects
During the workshops, participants presented the results of their projects implemented within the WEC mentoring program, discussed challenges and lessons learned, and developed recommendations for the further development of national STC systems and regional cooperation.
The workshop served as an important platform for exchanging experiences and strengthening cooperation between Central Asian countries, and also confirmed the importance of involving women experts in the field of export control in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 1325 “Women, Peace, and Security.”
